THE LITERACY AND NUMERACY ABILITY PROFILE WHICH ARE VIEWED FROM MINIMUM ASSESSMENT COMPONENTS (AKM)

Literacy and numeracy skills are cognitive learning outcomes measured in the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) and are part of the National Assessment (AN). This study aims to describe the literacy and numeracy achievement profile of junior high school students in terms of three aspects, namely content, cognitive processes, and context The descriptive quantitative approach method used in this research involved 141 class VIII junior high school students in North Aceh Regency and Lhokseumawe City through random sampling. Respondents are participants who took part in the 2021 National Assessment. The research instrument used was a question on literacy with 26 questions and numeracy with as many as 30 questions according to the grid and aspects of the AN that had been validated. The context of the questions is arranged in the form of personal, socio-cultural, and scientific. The distribution of the questions is in the form of 20% multiple-choice, 60% complex multiple-choice, 10% matching, 5% short answer or short answer, and 5% description. The results showedthe average percentage score of literacy ability was 43.87% with low criteria, meanwhile for numeracy skills, the average percentage score was 33.91% with very low criteria. These results indicate that students' literacy and numeracy skills in terms of each content need to be improved through the implementation of learning programs and the use of textbooks that lead to the improvement and development of literacy and numeracy skills.

Cigarette and Adolescent Debt: A Phenomenological Study of Smoking Behavior for Junior High School Students in Blitar City, Indonesia

This study tries to explain or reveal the meaning of the concept or phenomenon of experience which is based on the awareness that occurs in several individual junior high school students in terms of the act of smoking using Alfred Schutz's phenomenological approach. From this research, the problem studied is what are the motives of junior high school students in Blitar City to smoke. The research subjects were junior high school students in Blitar City. Data collection techniques were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews using interview guidelines. The results of the analysis and findings of the data show that the motives for smoking behavior carried out by elementary school children are due to wrong association in the environment, lack of attention from parents, imitation of people admired in their environment and labeling 'bad' children so that children become play a role based on the label. The motives for the goals to be achieved by these children include wanting to be admired by their peers, wanting to have lots of friends and as an attitude of resistance to parents who are over protective.

Biology-Critical Thinking Skills of High School Students in Terms of Gender and School Location

Students' critical thinking skills (CTS) in Indonesia are still relatively low. This study describes students' and the relationship between CTS and their gender and school location. The research was conducted using a cross-sectional survey method. The sampling technique was convenience sampling involving 91 men and 134 women from 7 public high schools in Bener Meriah district which are located in rural areas and 4 are located in urban areas. Students' CTS were measured using essay tests collected via google form and the results were analyzed descriptively. Furthermore, a correlation test was carried out between gender and students' school location on CTS with the Pearson correlation in the SPSS 25 program. The results showed that the value of students' CTS who attended urban areas had an average score of 48.6, while those who attended rural areas of 36.6. The average score of the boys was 39.4, while the average score of the girls was 50.3. The relationship between gender and CTS shows a value of 0.217, while the relationship between school location and CTS shows a value of -0.117. It was concluded that students who attend schools in urban areas have superior CTS compared to those in rural areas and female students are superior to male students. Sosialisasi Potensi Dan Peluang Kerja Di Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota

Based on data from the West Sumatra energy and mineral resources service, it is stated that Limapuluh Kota Regency has the potential for rocks (andesite, granite, limestone, marble) and metallic minerals (gold and lead). This huge natural potential requires good management so that it can develop and requires potential human resources as well. This is the background for socializing opportunities and potential job opportunities in Limapuluh Kota Regency. The socialization explains what potential mining resources exist in Limapuluh Kota Regency along with the job opportunities that exist in managing these resources. The target of this socialization is to open the minds of high school students in terms of the natural potential that their region has and to open up the students' insight in choosing the science they will study in college, so that as sons/daughters of the region they can contribute to the management and development of their region.

Environmentally Responsible Behavior of High School Students in terms of The Ability to Solve Environmental Problems

This research aimed to determine whether there is a positive relationship between the ability to solve environmental problems with environmentally responsible behavior and to determine other factors that have a relationship with environmentally responsible behavior. The population of this study were students of SMAN 1 Arjawinangun. This research was conducted in March-May 2021. The quantitative research data were obtained by using questionnaires, and multiple choice. The qualitative research data were obtained by doing interviews and observations. The data hypothesis was tested using statistics SPSS version 26. The results of this research showed that there was a positive relationship between environmentally responsible behavior and the ability to solve environmental problems. The interpretation correlation coefficient value is very low and is influenced by other factors.

Critical Thinking Profile of Senior High School Students in terms of Argumentation-Based Learning

This study aims to describe the profile of critical thinking based on argumentation learning in senior high school. This study used a quantitative descriptive study with a subject of 30 students. Subjects were asked to choose the correct answer based on the questionnaire and questions about critical thinking. The results from the questionnaire showed that students' critical thinking skills are 43% in the low category; 47% in the medium category, and 10% students in the high category. As evidenced by the average test results of critical thinking skills, the results obtained are 57.5 in the low category. In the indicator of formulating problems, the results obtained are 57.5 with low critical thinking categories; indicators provide arguments and analyze results 50 with low critical thinking categories; and the result deduction indicator is 60 with medium critical thinking category.Therefore, it can be recommended that the first step to improving critical thinking skills is to conduct argumentation-based learning so that students can convey arguments in physics learning and students' critical thinking skills can increase, so that it's expected to produce competent students according to 21st-century learning.

Development of Basic Biotechnology Knowledge Scale (BBKS) with Rasch Measurement Model

The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to measure basic biotechnology knowledge, examine the psychometric properties of the scale, and investigate whether there are differences in the test performances of high school students in terms of school, grade, and gender. The development phase of this scale was carried out with a sample of 388 high school students in a province in the west of Turkey. The psychometric properties of the scale were examined using the Rasch model. The K-R internal consistency coefficient of the final scale consisting of 17 items was calculated as 0.77. It was observed that item-total correlations varied between 0.25 and 0.48 except for one item (item 1, 0.13). The results of the Rasch analysis indicated that the scale fits the Rasch model and can differentiate low and high performing test takers. Three-Way ANOVA results demonstrated a significant main effect for the school. There were no statistically significant differences for grade and gender variables in terms of their biotechnology knowledge scores. However, the grade*gender interaction was statistically significant favoring males with small effect size. This observed effect was possibly due to uneven sample size of 12th grade students. The overall results suggest that the Basic Biotechnology Knowledge Scale (BBKS) can be used to assess the knowledge level of high school students.

Creative industries careers: shifting aspirations and pathways from high school to university—a NSW case study

Creative careers are responding rapidly to new creative practices, new audiences, emerging digital platforms and technologies. These careers are well paid, resistant to automation and permeate all aspects of society. Yet students’ and teachers’ perceptions and attitudes are not in alignment with the reality of a job in Australia’s Creative Industries. Research exploring the perceptions of a creative career in high schools showed there was a significant disconnect between perceived jobs and actual jobs, impacting on student aspirations to work in the creative industries. Current narratives in schools need to shift beyond an outdated idea of traditional “Arts” towards the realities of a contemporary creative workforce which combines digital, entrepreneurial and creative skills. A mixed method Australian state case study, was conducted in regional school communities, collecting data from across creative classroom practice, surveys and interviews. The findings point to a limited understanding of creative careers held by specialist teachers, careers advisors and students. This resulted in severely limited advice being provided to high school students in terms of choices of secondary curriculum and educational pathways for a creative career.

Mathematical Literacy Ability of Junior High School Students in Terms of Self-Efficacy

Mathematical literacy is an individual’s ability to formulate, employ, and interpret mathematics in various contexts. One of the factors that influence this ability is self-efficacy. This study aims to obtain an overview of the mathematical literacy ability of junior high school students in terms of self-efficacy. The research method used is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The instruments used were researchers as the research implementer, a self-efficacy scale, a mathematical literacy ability test, and interview guidelines. The subjects of this study were three students who had filled out the self-efficacy scale, consisting of one student with a high level of self-efficacy, one student with a moderate level of self-efficacy, and one student with a low level of self-efficacy. The results show that student with a high level of self-efficacy can meet three indicators of mathematical literacy ability and use the knowledge gained from their experience in solving problems, student with a moderate level of self-efficacy can meet two indicators of mathematical literacy ability and tend to try to solve the given problem, meanwhile student with a low level of self-efficacy only meet one indicator of mathematical literacy ability and less aware of the role of mathematics in everyday life.

Thinking Process Analysis (Assimilation, Accommodation, Abstraction) Mathematics Ability of Junior High School Students in terms of Learning Style

The purpose of this research is to know  the thinking processed of student’s  mathematical literacy abilities in terms of auditory, visual and kinesthetic learning styles. This research is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach. This research was conducted in Junior High Schools classified as Excellent in Meulaboh Regency. The subjects in this study were students of class IX MTsN 3 Aceh Barat  who had the high-level ability and were able to solve math literacy problems, besides the subject was also chosen based on learning styles. The results showed that there was no significant difference in students  mathematical literacy thinking processes based on visual learning styles is the process of assimilation and abtarksi thinking. Subjects with auditory learning styles, the thought processes of accommodation and abstraction  for the kinesthetic learning styles, the processes of thinking, assimilation and abstraction.

SOCIAL MEDIA ENGAGEMENT: ITS RELATION TO THE PSYCHOSOCIAL ATTRIBUTES OF SELECTED JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

This study entitled Social Media Engagement: Its relation to the Psychosocial Attributes of Selected Junior High School Students was conducted to specifically answer the following questions: What is the status of Social Media Engagement as to; Social Media Platform; Social Media Content; and Screentime? What is the level of psychosocial attributes in terms of Interpersonal Relationship; Life Satisfaction; Online Socialization; and Social Interaction? Is there a significant relationship between social media engagement and psychosocial attributes of selected junior high school students of Masico National High School? Based on the data gathered, the findings of the study were as follows: (1) the status of social media engagement as to social media platform, social media content and screentime were generally high, this means that students are using different social media platforms that are educational and value their privacy, also, they are very cautious on what they will post or follow online and they set limit on using different mobile devices; (2) the level of psychosocial attributes in terms of interpersonal relationship was high while in terms of life satisfaction, online socialization and social interaction were very high, this means that students build strong relationship within their peers with the use of social media. They collaborate and work together. Also, students use social media to be motivated and have a positive outlook in life. They communicate but with limitations and valuing one?s privacy; and (3) the result revealed that social media engagement has a significant relationship to the psychosocial attributes of selected junior high school students, this means that by using different social media platform, students develop a strong interpersonal relationship through continuous communication. Students choose contents that will motivate and help them grow as a person. Social media exposure greatly influences different aspects of students? lives. Based on the findings, social media engagement as to social media platform, social media content and screentime have a significant relationship to the psychosocial attributes of selected junior high school students in terms of interpersonal relationship, life satisfaction, online socialization and social interaction. Therefore, the null hypothesis stating that ?Social media engagement has no significant relation to the psychosocial attributes of selected junior high school students? was rejected. In view of the findings and conclusion of the study, the researcher recommends that teachers of Masico National High School may integrate the use of different social media platforms that promotes learning. There are a lot of social media platforms that are intended for learning and fun for the students to explore.

Effects of Postural Interventions on Physical and Psychological Aspects of Children in Terms of Secondary Sexual Characteristics.

Children with secondary sexual characteristics who experience considerable physical, psychological, and social development are prone to physical and mental imbalances. The effects of postural intervention on physical and psychological aspects in junior high school students in terms of secondary sexual characteristics were investigated in this study. Of the 30 participants in this study, 21 (10 boys, 11 girls) with complete measurements were included. The postural intervention consisted of 1 month of direct muscle stretching for postural maintenance and breathing as well as activities to orient the spinal curvature. The participants’ body arrangement, spinal curvature, and General Health Questionnaire 30 (GHQ) scores were compared before and after the postural intervention. The intervention improved postural alignment (e.g., head–neck angle t20 = 2.33, p < 0.05, 95%CI [0.30, 5.36]) and GHQ scores (e.g., GHQ total t20 = 3.36, p < 0.01, 95%CI [0.79, 3.40]). The postural intervention improved the posture of the students as well as positively affected their mental health. This study showed that students with secondary sexual characteristics can receive physical and psychological care without the use of special facilities or techniques.

Developing cognitive independence in high school students through physical education lessons

The article aims to present the results of experimental work on the implementation of a model for the development of cognitive independence of high school students in physical education lessons. Experimental work involved the development of the substantive foundations of the process of developing cognitive independence of high school students in physical education lessons, for this purpose, a phased implementation of this process was organized. The total participants of the research were 210 students between grades 10-and 11. The effectiveness of the implementation of the constructed model and technology is confirmed by the significant differences in the dynamics of the development of cognitive independence among high school students in control and experimental groups. The revealed differences allow us to state the effectiveness of the conducted experiment on the development of cognitive independence in physical education lessons among high school students in terms of motivational-value, cognitive-reflexive, and creative-activity components of cognitive independence.&#x0D; Keywords: Cognitive independence; high school students; independence; physical education.

Analysis of the Mathematical Ability of Junior High School Students in terms of the Extrovert-Introvert Personality Type

&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Mathematical abilities that are the basis of mathematical problem solving skills, mathematical communication skills, mathematical reasoning abilities, mathematical connection abilities, mathematical representation abilities. This study aims to describe the mathematical ability of junior high school students in terms of the extrovert-introvert personality type. The results of the study will be used as the main library material in the implementation of the next research. This study specifically discusses Carl Gustav Jung's personality type which distinguishes two personality types, namely introverted and extroverted personalities.&lt;/em&gt; &lt;em&gt;The type of research used in this study is a literature study research method. The data sources in this study are literature or come from various literatures, including books, journals, newspapers, personal documents and so on. Sources of data used in this study are primary data sources and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques used are Editing, Organizing, and Finding. For data analysis using deductive, inductive, and interpretative. The results of this literature study show: junior high school students with introverted personality types have good mathematical abilities compared to students with extroverted personality types.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

EXPLORING STUDENTS' COGNITIVE PROCESSES IN SOLVING NUMERACY TASK OF GEOMETRY AND MEASUREMENT REVIEWED BY MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

This study aims to analyze how the cognitive processes of high school students in terms of their mathematical abilities in solving the Minimum Competency Assessment Numeracy problems related to Geometry and Measurement. Problems were given to three 10th science students with categories of high, medium, and low mathematical ability. Data on the results of the subject's work were analyzed based on the cognitive processes stage, namely the stage of Comprehending linguistic and numerical information in the problem; 2)  Translating and transforming that information into mathematical notations, algorithms, and equations; 3) Observing relationships among the elements of the problem; 4) Formulating a plan to solve the problem; 5) Predicting outcome; 6) Regulating the solution path as it is executed; 7) Detecting and correcting errors during problem solution which is then followed by in-depth interviews. The results showed that students with high mathematical abilities went through all stages of the cognitive process quite coherently and completely. While students with moderate abilities went through the stage of understanding information to the calculation stage of planning, but there were some errors and corrections in finding solutions. Meanwhile, students with low abilities had not been able to show the stages of cognitive processes in a coherent manner so that many stages were interrupted and had to return to the stage of understanding the problem. Based on these results, it is hoped that learning for the preparation of the Minimum Competency Assessment for Geometry and Measurement material can be emphasized more and so that the understanding of information on students' problems can continue the completion stage according to the solution plan that they have made.&#x0D; Keywords: Cognitive Processes, Numeracy, Geometry and Measurement.

A comparison of creative problem solving features of gifted and non-gifted high school students

This study, it was aimed to examine the creative problem-solving characteristics of gifted and non-gifted high school students in terms of giftedness diagnosis, gender, and grade level variables. The research used the descriptive research model and causal comparison design, which are among the scanning models. A total of 375 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students, 73 gifted students, and 302 non-gifted students participated in the research. Data on gifted students were collected from two Science and Art Centers in a province in the Marmara region. Data on non-gifted students were collected from two Science High Schools and three Anatolian High Schools in the same province. "Creative Problem Solving Features Inventory" was used as a data collection tool in the research. It has been observed that the creative problem-solving skills of the gifted and non-gifted students differ in divergent thinking, general knowledge and skills, and the general average in favor of the gifted. There was a significant difference in favor of girls in the general average scores and the mean scores of the environment sub-dimension among gifted students. A significant difference was found in favor of the gifted in the dimension of divergent thinking at the 9th-grade level, and in the dimension of divergent thinking and general knowledge and skills at the 11th-grade level. However, it was observed that there was no significant difference between gifted and non-gifted students at the 10th and 12th-grade levels.

Profil Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa Kelas VIII pada Materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel Ditinjau dari Gaya Kognitif

The purpose of this study was to describe the problem-solving ability of eighth-grade junior high school students in terms of cognitive style in solving two-variable linear equations. This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII SMPN 1 Senduro, namely four students from each of two different types of cognitive styles. Collecting data using questionnaires, test methods, and interview methods. According to Polya, there are four steps in the problem-solving ability of students, namely understanding, planning, implementing, and re-checking. The results showed that students with a field-dependent cognitive style had difficulty in analyzing a problem because they could not apply the four Polya problem solving while the field independent type cognitive style was very able to apply the four problem-solving steps according to Polya, namely, understanding, planning, implementing, and doing recheck.&#x0D;  

The Voice of Learners on English Literary Texts: Passing on the Mantle

This study examines how pre-service teachers assess the appropriateness of literary texts used by high school students in terms of learners’ age, linguistic needs, and language proficiency. It also aims to determine the relevance of the texts used to learners’ cultural understanding. The participants in this study were five pre-service teachers who participated in a content analysis study of five literary texts. They analyzed the content of the texts using the four categories of textbook evaluation criteria proposed by Tomlinson (2001), namely, media-specific criteria, content-specific criteria, learner-specific criteria, and language criteria. The evaluation results were positive. All participants agreed that all five texts were appropriate for high school learners, with average levels of compliance ranging from moderate to appropriate. In addition to selecting texts that are appropriate for the learners’ language level, the topics and issues addressed in the texts should also be appropriate for the learners’ interest, so the selection of literary texts is crucial. Finally, more local texts should be selected for the English literature curriculum to highlight local cultures and practices. It is expected that this study will contribute to English language teaching as the findings of this study will provide necessary information to those who are concerned with the selection of appropriate literary texts for schools. In addition, this study will raise awareness among teachers and curriculum designers of the need to consider learners’ level of competence when evaluating and selecting from the many literary texts available.
